Selasi (she/her) has been with Youth Rise Texas since 2020 and joined the  Communications team in 2021 to work alongside the Director of Development and  Brand Strategy, Bria Virgil. As Communications Coordinator, she currently focuses  on content production, social media management and analytics, as well as in house graphic design for the organization. Her role allows her to simultaneously  draw from her personal interests in art and pop culture, and her education in  International Relations to produce strong, politically aligned narratives that help  Youth Rise Texas’ programs grow.  

In October of 2022, Selasi began leading the Youth Rise Texas Communications  Cohort––a group of five young people (ages 15 to 19) with an interest in  communications and social media. Driven by a “for youth, by youth” ideology, the  cohort dedicates itself to generating content across mediums and platforms that  will speak to Youth Rise Texas’ base of 14 to 25 year olds. At the end of the  inaugural cohort in August of 2023, the group will produce both individual and  collaborative portfolios to present the youth-informed narratives they constructed  and implemented for YRTX.  

Originally from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Selasi holds B.A.s in International Relations and  Global Studies and Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
