GET READY FOR GAME JAM 2020

Virtual RDC Game Jam is a chance to create with people around the world with like-minded creativity and passion for games. Create solo or find a team to see what you can build overnight around a pre-picked theme. The world is waiting to experience your creation, so show us what powers your imagination.

 

Please follow these guidelines to make it the best experience possible for everyone involved:

1.  The Game Jam starts at 10:00 am local time.
2.  You can be a solo team or have up to 6 team members (including yourself), feel free to go to the designated discord servers to find yourself a team.
3.  You must follow Roblox Terms of Services.
4.  You may use premade assets and modules you already own, but you will not get points for originality.
5.  Games will be judged by a panel of judges considering the following:
Originality & Creativity - Delivers a unique and distinctive experience that explores interesting game concepts, engaging narratives and/or artistic vision
Visual Design - For delivering a game's overall artistic style that is visually impressive, consistent, and compliments the game design, given the time constraints
Theme - Seeking a game that delivers the theme in a unique, interesting and fun way
Gameplay & Fun Factor - A game that has fun and intuitive controls and engaging mechanics
Technical Achievements - For delivering a game that innovatively showcases the capabilities of the Roblox platform
6.  All teams are expected to fill out the survey to submit their game for judging by 10:00am local time the following day.
7.  Judging will take place the week of July 20th and 10 finalists will be picked to showcase their game on Sunday July 26th. Winners will be chosen from the final showcase presentations. 

If you make it to the finalist round, you need to designate one gameplay driver and one speaker for the presentation. Everyone on the team may come to the stage when your speaker is presenting.

This year we changed awarding, instead of doing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places we are doing winners of five different categories.

Best In Show (Overall Winner)
Recognizes the game that delivers the absolute best experience across all creative and technical fields

Excellence in Visual Art
For outstanding creative and/or technical achievements in artistic design and animation

Most Creative Gameplay
Created the most unique and state-of-the-art experience for Roblox users

Outstanding Use of Roblox Tech
Recognizes the game that presents the most innovative use of the platform features

Best Use of Theme
For the most creative interpretation of the Game Jam theme

Each individual on the winning teams will get a trophy (physical and virtual) with winning team of “Best In Show” also having their team name engraved on trophy at HQ

Each individual on the winning teams will get a “ticket” for a spot in the featured sort for 1 week that is good for up until 1 year

Each individual will get to choose their game of their choice to be featured (they must be the owner / group owner of the game and the game must follow Roblox TOS)

Each individual on the winning teams will get a Roblox branded Xbox

Winning team members of “Best In Show” will get to create a UGC catalog item

Each individual will get to create their own item and price it
